Advanced Book Marketing
A publisher's secret for selling more books...
EJ Thornton
ISBN: 0-9820838-6-6

If you are not yet well-known and no one knows the title of your book - then your future customers aren't searching for you on the internet.

How do you get them to discover your book? It's easy. The concept is called Associative Marketing and publishers have been using it since time began to sell books. As an author, you also need to tap into the system so that you can significantly increase your book sales on the internet. It is explained in great detail in the book Advanced Book Marketing.

It's not a matter of getting them to notice you and your book, it's putting your book where your customers are already searching for answers, and everyone wins...

Writer's Summit Tip #6:

Write a sub-title for your book. Test it for usefulness. Does it tell people what to expect when they open the book? Can you tell if it is a novel or a biography, historical, current or futuristic? Can they tell the general topic of the book instantly? They need to be able to. You have about 2 seconds with a potential customer, when they take your book off the shelf and browse it. If they don't like it, they'll put it back within 2 seconds. Don't believe me? Go to your favorite bookstore and watch the customers.

Writer's Summit Tip #19:

When calling a book store to find out if you can schedule a book signing - if they ask you, "Is your book 'Print on Demand'?" They don't really care about the real answer to that question... bookstores do not care how your book was manufactured. The real question they are asking you is, "Are your books returnable?"

Print on Demand books typically are not returnable and therefore, bookstores do not like to do book signings with authors who books are "Print on Demand."

If you do get asked this question, answer with your return policy. "No, my books come with 100% return guarantee."

Writer's Summit Tip #25:

Commercially publishing a book takes between 12-24 months AFTER you sign a contract with a publisher. If your subject is more timely than that, you need to seriously consider self-publishing or partner publishing your book.

Many non-fiction books are quite timely. Waiting for 2 years to get a book on the topic out on the market could significantly damage your chances for success. There are many ways to publish your work that gets your information to the market much more quickly.
